Daydream 'Bout A Baby-Pink, Climbing Rose
Sweet fragrance lit upon warm breeze conspiring with a jay
And sent my mind a wanderin' down 'long the memory way
As image crosses meadow, slips to forest where it's Spring
Splintered sunshine's on the creek where my youth had it's fling
But why came I this pathway, for aroma in my nose?
'Less it be, yes, now I see, the baby-pink, climbing rose
I'm in "our old house", on the hillside
amidst the redwoods and some pines
The gardens 'round here terraced,
'sweets' are hangin' 'neath some vines
Most were planted by my grandma whom we all called, "Dee Dee"
She lived downstairs, heard us above,
mom and dad with three
Boys that is, and all of us just boyish as could be
"Tho this place instilled in me
life's gifts..., delicately
Our bedroom was a porch, enclosed, with windows all about
Of the beauty that surrounded us my memory has no doubt
And I'm facing toward the western scene,
the glass steamed from my nose
Winter's flown, buds are grow'n
on the baby-pink, climbing rose
Morning fog is scattering up through forest, there's blue sky
Now, down below on pathway stands me looking up, so high
It had sprouted in a bulkhead where
some other shrubs did grow,
Then that rose grew up a maple tree
as toward the light it'd go
Then, twining 'round a telephone pole,
impressing "them" amd me
It reached across a great vast space into the loquat tree
And year to near for sun it soared though
not quite reached the pines
And where there was no place to cling,
the blossoms hung like vines
So, birds came down to sit and sing while butterflies and bees
Danced across the blossoms in and out beneath the trees
And forget-me-nots and fuschias, mock-orange and lilacs too
Hydrangea, periwinkle, snowball trees..., iris, deepest blue
Surround our home 'til seasoned heat
when blooms no longer shows,
But on it went 'til Summer's spent,
the baby-pink, climbing rose
There too were days, just warm enough
and when the wind might blow
"Cross the creek, up yonder hill to fly our kites we'd go
Halfway up that mountain, through the forest, looking back
I still see our home down there; no romance did it lack
On the forest edge a rainbow formed , a floral, scenic pose
Crowned in all it's splendor by the baby-pink, climbing rose
And there is yet another whim come to mind this day
On golden morn' to church walked we to celebrate the May
A childrens' quaint procession marched the aisles with a song
A stepping stone, in my heart, a feeling that belongs
Grown beyond such crowning rituals,
'back there'everybody knows
My mother made the garland from the baby-pink, climbing rose
Now, the memory is growing dim...,no,
it's moonless Autumn night
And there I am at window part of starlit forest site
I can't tell if they're dewdrops on the few blossoms still there
Or teardrops, twinkling...,
in a boy who's come to care
'Cause I've overheard, 'we're moving',
'tho not far down the way
Now this daydream's headed back toward where it started out today
And the jay goes right before me, shady way is left behind
And suddenly, in amazement, a new scene do I find
Can it be, in a buckeye tree, ...,oh yeah, this too was true
Another gorgeous, climbling rose right near the house that's new
Colors of the appricot all tangled in the Spring
A giant mass of blossoms where more birds have come to sing
'Midst the pink and white of buckeye bloom
mixed blossoms of the rose
And treated any passer-by with treat for eye and nose
So, there's a feeling life has blessed me, revealing all this bliss
When this momentary journey, like a lover's parting kiss
Leaves me falling, rushing homeward
in that way that Love can swoon
And the 'here and now' of changing tide,
splashed on my mind too soon
Still, in 'that instant' that it takes the drops of time to fall
Glimpses of a life's-time flashed in sensual, quiet recall
And all those days of simple ways
have changed with things I've known
Add two brothers and a sister more
how quickly all have grown
Now, gone their ways, like all the days
of joy or love, and tears
The 'new house' turned out quite a place,
now, it too feels the years
And the seasons 'round from green to brown,
this ol' world became a changing town...,
neither do those roses bloom 'er more
The future's holding doubts and strife,
I can't believe I've lost my wife
Folks don't love the way I saw the love before
Dee Dee died, my parents too..., so much of me forever blue
I've even wondered if this life is just a scheme
Then..., sweet or sour flowing tears,
mis-guided thoughts and all my fears
Are held in check...,'cause I still know to dream
I've glimpsed a piece of 'divine plan';
the child transfered to a man
My own children wait back at "today"...,
I think about their questions
About various lifetime's lessons,
organizing just what I might say
Like, "life is change", it's not so strange
to have lived and loved
and felt from different views...,
Or, lotsa 'good times' will be spent,
someday you'll wonder where they went
You'll probably even get to meet the blues
There's always more, you'll find, to come...,
it's just that some life's on the run
'Tis divine, you know, the way it 'comes and goes'
All the sweet and sour tears,
like long hot days and speeding years,
The life you get to share...,and the parts that no one knows
Well, live to love and love to dream,
nobody totally grasps this scene, and...,
With that I feel the ground beneath my toes
'Twas a daydream's time worth spending,
no sadness that it's ending;
I still smell sweet, the fragrance
of that baby-pink, climbing rose

Influential Journey
There's still flowers in the garden blooming
They love the sun, stain the air and pray for rain
In our dream we're just children dancin'
O'er the earth, blossoms everywhere
Close-up colors in the the shadows burstin'
Climbing mountains, painting meadows, dance the wind
'Neath a rainbow's magic is your Springtime as
Lifelets into future dreams are spinned
There's a butterfly comes to sip the nectar,
So sweet the taste he lingers with the tune
Winging stolen kisses wed the lovers
N'er to dance together in their bloom
'Til Nature's deeds find fallen seeds
Upon a swollen stream
This journey's way is but to say
Wake up now..., hold the dream
Sleepy babes glance the 'new-life' playground
As hazy Autumn inlets babble by
The brand new day dawns soon, 'tis through another
The secret of the winging butterfly

The Environmental Drums Of Earth
Click Hear the Song to this lyric
Lifelets in your circle blue,
the future echoes sad, but true
If these environmental dangers keep on comm'n
Gotta get a message 'round the world
One Mankind 'neath their stars is hurled
It's a good thing all Her Children Love that Drumm'n
'Cause Mother Nature will be hiding, 'shamed her Man don't see
What was thought to be a freeway, really ain't so free
We gotta a garden full of cars and trucks
Oil -tankers run-amuck
The Eagles lungs are clogged up in the sky
Uncontrolled human waste
Every Creature gets a taste
What form of heart can let more species die?
Everyone must hear our pleas(e)...,
(Livelihood)* depends on trees
Yet, acid-rain stains air and seas and lands
Looky at this way of life,
carv'n out a Self-made strife
These problems and the solving's on our hands
Within this beauty there is Good,
We can make it understood
The bad stuff, by itself, won't go away
Nevermind a Pact, somehow
Agree the time to act is Now
And save this place for everything to play
Pollution and Solution rhyme,
don't be wast'n any time
Denying it or blaming one another
"Swords to plowshears", all come 'fess
Wage a war against the mess
This time you can't leave it for your Mother
Rhythm, tempo, ad lib beat
Earthlings Drumm'n where they meet
It's just a Fad and best to keep it sane
Like Her heartbeat burning bright,
For a moment steal the light
Love the sun, Dance the wind...,pray for cleansing rain
What good's all the money...,what about Our Freedom
Do we live and die in vein...,When our sickly Offspring
Turn our way and curse us...,knowing well we were to blame
Ya look, ya find a better way; Starts with any brand new day
Tell anyone who wants to come
No time for debating, Mother Earth is waiting
Come along and bring a Drum
The Saga of Freedumb
Freedumb was a cocoon child, not yet earned her wings
While growing in the land of dreams, the future's hopes she sings
Nurtured by life's sufferings, eternal seasons passed
Her soul with patience tempered ' til the day she's weened at last
One day some of mankind woke while many others slept
Freedumb heard their laughter o'er the pains of those who wept
Her world began so shaking, tolling bells proclaimed her birth
The intrusion brought confusion, premature she fell to earth
As destiny would have it, she could n'er survive the fall
Without the aid of many and the confidence of all
So she's hooked up to a complex, artificial life-support
And occassionally she's mentioned on the evening news report
A system of defense is built, protects her 'round-o'-bout
Her enemies cannot get in...,but she cannot get out
Poor Freedumb's in a coma still, her visitors are few
Survival is in question and there's not much we can do
Still voted into power are the ones who keep the lie
And many just like Freedumb never live, but they will die
Existence is proclaimed for them, the price of change too high
But her brothers "Love" and "Justice" are now waiting in the sky
And there's a pathway thru the diamonds of a warm and breezy night
Toward a meadow drenched in clover where weary ones just might
Sing lay me down and quench my yearning
where the midnight rainbow's burning
O'er the misty, by the pools o' paradise
And tho' Freedumb's still a child, maybe all she'll ever be
Best we find it in our hearts...,disconnect her so She's Free
And let her sleep a little more until the day's enhanced
While we take care, those ones so near, might try to steal our chance
For the children feel inside them, "The Father made us Free!"
And the liars make us wonder, will it ever get to be?
That we're liv'n in a garden just as freely as the breeze
With a shelter thats the warmth of love
And food just hangs from trees?
So let's reveal the truth, right now, distinguish what is real
And from the cosmic embryo never, ever steal
For love IS coming to us all, you've heard about the plan
And Freedumb, just like You and I,
will wake up for real, again
Dwindlee Song
Dwindlee down on a river o' rhyme
T'where the wildflower 'er they sweet
O'er the earth to the glade and the world is all love
Where the heather and hummingbird meet
'Tis a lovely thought for a bright new morn'
To a time beyond what's true
Would I waken each day and the future's all play
So, I run to the shore and greet you
Sorry to say, tis no all that way
Aye, I've come to where time and rhyme twist
For another deep urge from within does upsurge
And me soul beg o' me, it insist
I cry out to you what's making me blue
And keep'n this dream from us all
There are those here insane, causing much pain
They want we should all take the fall
Always leaning toward war; turned the earth to a whore
Selling it's worth for their pleasure
Ah, but please don'tcha go..., be still now and know
'Tis life itself what be the treasure
Well, I hope I've helped yer choice you make
Twixt evil and what be bliss
Be good now..., I'll see ya ere an' agin
Where the heather and hummingbird kiss

Island In Time
Up behind the Golden Gate, a whiff of water azalea luring
In your eyes, I see the sea where once before I knew you
And when we were kissing, didn't the signs burn in the street
Dancing cherubs sang this song; 'fly from evil now, son', fly
Above yer home are electric Indians in a happy-hunting-night
And there's no toll go'n home
You see, it comes another day; or hold you in some other way
Maybe baby just to say you make my heart beat faster and faster
I could get away...,roll you in the Summer hay- high land lady
Odle-aydee, why not roll me over clover mountain
Drink a little wine with me, yer everything,
a bluebird loving and free
We're on an island in time, little children
Holding hands to form the shore
Island In Time sometimes overwhelms; we break and fly
We rest and pray for more
Island In Time within a beauty of creation's bubbling source
Laughing, crying..., living, dying...,wonder'n
Can we love ever more?
Silks and leather out of the weather or not
We had been a ridin' or maybe justa wonder'n
How either of us could ever have gotten this far-out place
Has found a way to lay tracks through the ports of my heart
We're on an island in time, little children
Holding hands to form the shore
Island In Time sometimes overwhelms; we break and fly
We rest and pray for more
Island In Time within a beauty of creation's bubbling source
Laughing, crying..., living, dying...,wonder'n
Can we love ever more?
